I'll admit I got bored with other people's blogs as they seemed to teem with "oh woe is me" doldrums. I found myself depressed rather than inspired, which in turn, left me less inclined to blog myself for fear of others feeling the same way about me.
Oddly enough, since no one reads my blog, I really have nothing to worry about.
I try not to gripe too much, but there is so much about my life and job that lend to griping, sometimes it's unavoidable. Enter my sarcasm. That's me trying to laugh at the lunacy that is just so damn unfunny.
I'm working on a World Premiere opera with the award winning composer Stephen Schwartz and each day have had the worst day of my professional life in front of him....all thanks to a singer who had the balls to proclaim to the cast and crew, "I'm famous." "I'm the driving force of this production." "It's me who's selling this show".....that was only day 2 of rehearsal.
The only good side to this is now the running joke (no, the singer doesn't know) is to come up to someone, tap them on the shoulder and say, "I'm famous".
Singers are crazy.
Nuff said.
THINGS I SHOULD HAVE BLOGGED ABOUT BUT DIDN'T:
1) Opera Cleveland - love that company!
2) Hawaii Performing Arts Festival - hello? can you say a month working in Hawaii?
3) time with my family in NC - never long enough, and no, I still haven't bought a house
4) cross country...again.
I apologize for the scatteredness of this entry and for the lack of effort over the last months.
Stay tuned. I will blog. and be interesting. I hope.
